Wolves sweep by Erskine

DUE WEST - The Newberry College Wolves picked up another non-conference in-region victory with a 25-15, 25-16, 25-17 sweep of the Erskine Flying Fleet in Belk Arena on Tuesday night.

Newberry moved to 16-11 overall on the season and are anticipating good news in the first release of the NCAA Division II Southeast Region rankings Wednesday. The Wolves enter the final stretch of the South Atlantic Conference season this weekend, starting with a match at Wingate on Friday at 7 p.m. Erskine falls to 15-11 on the year.

Samantha Parrish (Angola, Ind.) had a double-double with 13 kills and 14 digs, hitting a .278 percentage, while Jessica King (Los Angeles, Calif.) had eight kills. Blair Browning (New Lexington, Ohio) passed out 33 assists and Elayni Stokes (Houston, Texas) had a team-high 15 digs.

Chelsea Mayor (Sugar Land, Texas) had five kills and Madison Schultz (Decatur, Ind.) had four kills with neither player committing an error and each chipping in on five blocks.
