TAMPA, FLA. — Florida Southern College Mocs opened its 2012-13 season falling in a close battle 138-124 to Sunshine State Conference rival Univserity of Tampa on Oct. 19 at the Tampa Aquatics Center.
Freshman Virginia Summer from Newberry finished second in both the 100-yard backstroke, 1:00.69, and the 200-yard backstroke, 2:09.38.
Summer also competed in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a second place finish and the 200 yard medley relay with a fourth place finish.
The Mocs return to the pool on Nov. 3 in Tallahassee against Florida State and Emory.
