The Pi Beta Omega chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority donated 16 children’s books to the Newberry County Library on Monday for National Literacy Month last month. Chairperson Leila Caldwell organized the donations with children’s librarian Jessica Toland and bought new books since Caldwell says the children’s library lacked books about black Americans. Brown, Harriett Wells Kegler, Glendora Pratt Williams and Sam Ziady, library director.
