NEWBERRY — Halloween just got more fun and crazy with the Rocky Horror Picture Show from the Newberry Community Players.

“It’s the third year we’ve been doing this,” said Danielle Shull, director for the Rocky Horror Picture Show, “It’s become a Halloween tradition.”

As for what to expect, people can expect “very chaotic and an off the wall crazy show,” Shull explains.

The actors and dancers will perform on stage while the movie plays on screen in the background at the Ritz Theater in downtown Newberry this Friday and Saturday before Halloween.

Shull says that this year they have a lot of new actors, especially from college.

If one thinks that he or she will just sit and watch, they would be wrong.

“Audience participation is encouraged,” Shull says.

“There will be a Rocky Horror Picture Show survival bag for $5 and during the show, the audience is called to take out items of the the goodie bags. Throughout the movie, they are told how to use the items. People familiar with the movie know there is a second script where people yell out,” Shull explains.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show is for mature audiences only, SHull points out which means only those 18 and older may watch.

“It’s a crazy, chaotic fun thing,” Shull says.

Tickets are available at the Newberry Opera House box office and people may stop by in person, call 276-6264 or go online to www.newberryoperahouse.com. Reservations are recommended but Shull says the community players will sell tickets the day of the shows.

Show time is at 10 p.m. both nights and the Ritz is located at 1511 Main St.
