A new season starts Friday as the Newberry Bulldogs open their conference taking on Saluda.
The team has been playing hard, said coach Phil Strickland.
“We have lost to good teams and able to beat mediocre teams,” said Strickland.
But as the Bulldogs start conference play Friday, it will be as if they are starting a new season where every game counts.
To be successful the Newberry team must work to stop turnovers.
“We have to protect the football if we want to win,” said Strickland.
He adds that Saluda is big up front on defense and that the Bulldogs will have to show more “finesse.”
The Saluda Tigers are also a solid team and the Bulldogs will have their work cut out for them.
The Bulldogs are 3-2 going into Friday’s game.
Newberry will host Saluda at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
