Grammy-winning country star to come to Opera House

NEWBERRY — It doesn’t get better than this. Crystal Gayle will perform Dec. 2 at the Newberry Opera House, with shows at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m.

From an Appalachian coal mining town in Kentucky, Gayle and her sister Loretta Lynn have come a long way from her roots in Paintsville, Ky. (population 3459). She is unquestionably now an internationally acclaimed recording artist and frequently tours abroad and performs over 100 concerts a year in the United States, along with prime-time TV specials and live concerts. From recording studios to live concerts or before millions on television, Gayle has captivated audiences around the world.

This Grammy-award winning artist was named “Country Music’s Female Vocalist of the Year” three times, and was also recognized for her artistry and beauty by naming her its “Favorite Female Country Video Artist.”

Gayle will delight her audience with hit songs like Don’t It Make My Brown Eyes Blue, If You Ever Change Your Mind, Cry Me a River, Sentimental Journey, It Had To Be You, Smile, Amazing Grace, and Nearer My God to Thee. She will weave her signature vocal styling through the broad musical landscape of the concert.
