If we call on the Lord, we must come to him expecting him to hear us and answer according to his will. He wants us to ask and believe.

Elijah knew who the living, true God was because he had already seen God predict and execute drought. He had already witnessed his power at work in bringing the widow of Zarephath’s son back to life. Elijah expected God to answer because he had faithfully responded in the past.

Elijah’s God is also our God.

We know what God can do because we have seen what He has done in our life and the lives of others.

“Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.” Jeremiah 33:3

“But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” Hebrews 11:6

“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.” James 1:17

When we ask God for something, let’s believe he will answer. He knows what is best for us, so let’s put our trust in him. We can call on the Lord anytime.
