On Thursday, August 11, 2016, our rental home was destroyed due to a fire. During a time like this, you are at the mercy of the good Lord, and those who are trained to put out a house fire and care for those who may need medical attention or emergency shelter. Our neighborhood heroes responded to that 911 call on Thursday, August 11, 2016.

Many thank-yous to the Newberry Fire Department, as well as those volunteer firefighters that responded. Also many thank-yous to the Newberry County Emergency Medical Services, Newberry City Police Department, Newberry City Utility Department as well as the American Red Cross.

It was a blessing and relief just seeing how all the different departments came together and worked so hard as a team. All of them were so professional and caring throughout the entire situation. It was very obvious that everyone who showed up on that very hot and fiery Thursday was truly dedicated and passionate about their job.

We are very thankful for all of our neighborhood heroes, who risk their lives to save others. Again, thanks for doing your job of protecting and caring for the community. It is our community heroes that are there when we need them during a time such as this.

A special thank you to Newberry’s Fire Department Chief Keith Minick, who was there for us and our tenants even after the fire. Also thanks to our neighbors and onlookers who came to our rescue as well as all the friends, churches and organizations that have given so generous to our tenants.
