On Oct. 5, we will hold the 24th annual Chamber Golf Tournament at the Country Club of Newberry. George Rogers, University of South Carolina’s Heisman Trophy winner, will join us with a team.

All golfers will receive lunch and dinner and can purchase chances to win several great door prizes, including one of four footballs signed by Mr. Rogers. The shotgun start is at noon, and you do not need to be Chamber member to participate.

We also have hole and tent sponsorships available so that you can advertise your business. Contact us at 803-276-4274 to reserve your spot, or show up on Wednesday, and we will fit you in.

Don’t forget, the first “Coffee and Commerce” session will be held at the Chamber on Tuesday, Oct. 4 at 10 a.m. and will focus on the topic of “Chamber 101 — Who We Are and What We Do.” I invite you to join me to talk about how we can work with you to help you meet your business goals.

We want to continue to help build business and connect community. No reservations are needed. Just stop in to learn about your Chamber.

Another date to keep in mind is Oct. 8. If you are not registered to vote, you must register by Oct. 8 to cast your vote in the November election. You can visit Newberry County Voter Registration online or in person at 1872 Wilson Road in Newberry.

Educate yourself about the candidates and the issues so that you can make an informed decision at the polls. When I say “educate yourself,” I mean by legitimate sources, not necessarily what the person at the store in line with you passed off as fact.

So get registered, get informed and get out and vote.

Do you need information about Newberry County, or where to find a specific service? We can be a great resource for you. Call 803-276-4274 or stop by 1209 Caldwell St. in downtown Newberry and talk with Liz, Becka or me. You never know what resources we may have for you.
