PROSPERITY — Girls interested in learning more about the game of volleyball participated in the Mid-Carolina High School girl’s volleyball camp.

The camp was in association with the County of Newberry Recreation and was held July 10 through July 12 at Mid-Carolina High School’s gymnasium. The camp was for girls in rising fourth through 10th grade.

Instructed by Coach Jessica Seibert, head varsity volleyball coach for MCHS, the camp focused on the fundamentals and mechanics of volleyball, along with drills and competitive play.

Seibert said specific skills that were taught throughout the duration of the camp were serving, passing, setting, hitting, blocking, and digging.

A few years ago, Seibert said MCHS hosted a joint camp which consisted of both basketball and volleyball related activities, but this was the first camp she believed was geared fully to volleyball.
