NEWBERRY — Newberry Academy’s drama class traveled to Augusta, Ga., on Oct. 29 and competed in the South Carolina Independent Schools Association (SCISA) fall drama competition.


The class performed “Working with Arthur,” an original written by Newberry Academy senior Amber Boatwright. The play was awarded an honorable mention. Two students took home individual awards, including Carman Franklin for All-Star Actress and Boatwright for Best Playwright.


The class performs “Working with Arthur” once again on Nov. 15 for Newberry Academy’s fine arts night and looks forward to working on their next production.


Carman Franklin is a junior at Newberry Academy.
