The northbound lanes of Interstate 85 are closed between exits 14 and 18 due to a fatal wreck between two big-rig trucks.

It appeared at the scene that one truck may have rear-ended the other. The cab of the rear truck was wedged under the trailer of the one in front, and the rear tractor-trailer was burned. Georgia State Patrol was investigating and a trooper at the scene said it was too early in the investigation to release any information on the incident this morning.

Troup County 911 officials said the call came in at 6:21 a.m. as a vehicle fire and that one person involved was deceased.

GSP and rescue personnel were at the scene this morning. Vehicles were lined up on the northbound lane of I-85 from the wreck site, less than a mile south of Lafayette Parkway exit, to the Hamilton Road exit.
