The Newberry Police Department reported the following incidents:

— Cleophus Clark, Jr., 66, of 41 Boundary St. in Newberry, was charged with public intoxication and open container on July 17. According to the report, Clark was staggering on the sidewalk on Boundary Street and was seen tossing what appeared to be a beer bottle behind him. The report states Clark smelled of alcohol and his eyes were red and watery. Clark admitted to having a Natural Light Beer can, pouring some of the beer on the officer’s foot.

— Jamal Jones, 25, of 637 Cherry Lane in Newberry, and Antonio Hawkins of 154 Brown Chapel Drive in Newberry were charged with disorderly conduct on July 19. According to the report, officers responded to the Drayton St. Community Center in reference to a fight in progress. While asking people to leave officers noticed Jones and Hawkins fighting. Both subjects were tased to break up the fight. Hawkins was transported to the Newberry County Detention Center. Jones was first transported to Newberry County Memorial Hospital for lacerations to the face before transported to NCDC.

— Tyrahn Anderson, 23, of 557 B. Airport Road in Clinton, was cited with simple possession of marijuana on July 19. According to the report, officers pulled Anderson over after noticing him travel left of the center line and then back into the right lane several times. Anderson’s vehicle smelled of marijuana and he admitted to having a small bag of it in his pants pocket.
