Auto dealers seminar

COLUMBIA — The S.C. Department of Revenue is offering a Sales & Use Tax Seminar for Automobile Dealers in July that focuses on sales, use and local taxes, warranty, maintenance and similar service contracts, and exemptions and exclusions pertaining to the automobile industry.

The seminar will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 21 at the Columbia Conference Center, 169 Laurelhurst Ave. in Columbia. The cost is $50 per person, which includes lunch and materials.

Business managers, CFOs, accounts payable personnel, accounting staff, tax professionals, and others who work with sales and use taxes in the automotive industry are encouraged to attend.

Service academy nominations

WASHINGTON — The Office of U.S. Senator Tim Scott (R-SC) is accepting applications for Service Academy Nominations through 5 p.m. Oct. 13.

High school students interested in attending the U.S. Military Academy, U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Air Force Academy, or U.S. Merchant Marine Academy are encouraged to submit applications and other necessary documents.

Students interested in being considered for a nomination by Scott must submit an application, SAT/ACT scores, two essays, high school transcripts, and three letters of recommendation. Call 803-771-6112 for more information.
