NEWBERRY — A reception will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. March 14 at Newberry Opera House for Lee Foster, who is expected to announce he is running for re-election as sheriff of Newberry County. The public is invited.

Foster, a native of New

berry County, has served as sheriff for more than 20 years. He began his first term as sheriff in January of 1989, and has served continuously in this position since.

Foster is a 1975 graduate of Mid-Carolina High School. He graduated from the University of South Carolina in 1977 with an associate’s degree in Criminal Justice with highest honors and in 1979 with a bachelor’s degree in Applied Professional Sciences, graduating Magna Cum Laude.

He has also graduated from the South Carolina Sheriff’s School, the National Institute of Justice Executive Management Institute, the Federal Bureau of Investigations Executive Development Board, and the Federal Bureau of Investigations Carolina Command College.

Foster is a member of Central United Methodist Church, the Prosperity Fire Department, Board of Visitors for Piedmont Technical College, and various other community activities. He and his wife make their home in Newberry. They have two children.
