2 p.m.: St. John Baptist Church, 5614 S.C. 219 in Newberry, holds a Taking Hats Back to the Roots.

Dec. 4-6

6 p.m.: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Glenn Street in Newberryholds its third annual Festival of the Nativity: A celebration of the Christ Child. Collectible nativities will be on display. Musical performances on Friday and Saturday will feature choirs, soloists and musicians from surrounding communities. Musical performances begin at 7 p.m. Nativities will be on display, with no live music, on Sunday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Dec. 5

9 a.m.-noon: Grace Lutheran Church in Prosperity holds a yard sale, rain or shine, to benefit Relay for Life.

Dec. 6

5 p.m.: Epting Memorial United Methodist Church, 1401 Milligan St. in Newberry, hosts Coffee House entertainment by Oasis. Refreshments will be served

7 p.m.: Newberry First Baptist Church, 1020 Boundary St. in Newberry, presents a free Christmas concert featuring the Arpad Darazs Singers.

Worship Services

Aveleigh Presbyterian Church, 1211 Calhoun St. in Newberry, holds worship services at 9:15 a.m. in the sanctuary immediately followed at 10:30 a.m. by Sunday School. Aveleigh Worship Center service begins at 11:30 a.m. in Truesdell Hall (gym).

Bethel Missionary Baptist Church of Cross Hill holds intercessory prayer and Bible study at 7 p.m. Tuesdays, mid-week services at 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays and worship service every Sunday beginning with Sunday school at 10 a.m. and worship service beginning at 11:15 a.m.

Macedonia Lutheran Church, 49 Macedonia Church Road, holds summer outdoor lakeside worship services on Lake Murray through Sept. 14. Holy Communion will be administered Aug. 17 and Sept. 14. New Chapel UMC on Deadfall Road in Newberry has worship services at 9 a.m. and Sunday School at 10 a.m.

New Creation Church Family, 1310 Main St. in Newberry, holds worship service at 10 a.m. each Sunday.

New Hope Baptist Church on S.C. 121 in Newberry has Sunday school at 10 a.m. and worship at 10:45 a.m. except the fifth Sunday. Bible study is on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.

St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 1605 Main Street, holds its Sunday service at 10:30 a.m. with music and communion. Adult education will resume in September. Weekly service on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at Springfield Place.

St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 4056 St. Luke’s Church Road, has worship services at 10:30 a.m. beginning June 7. Sunday School will begin at 9:30 a.m.

Sweet Springs A.M.E. Church, 20502 U.S. 76 in Newberry, holds worship service at noon the first and third Sunday of each month.
