NEWBERRY — The Newberry Christmas Parade, sponsored again this year by the Newberry Jaycees, will be held at 4 p.m. Dec. 5 on Main Street.

Early entry deadline is Nov. 24. Entries will be accepted until Nov. 25 but fees will increase by $5 after that date.

The theme for this year’s parade is A Country Kind of Christmas – interpreted any way your group deems fit as long as it adheres to the rules mandated by the Parade Committee.

Applications can be emailed to individuals or groups and can also be picked up at Newberry County Chamber of Commerce, City of Newberry Parks and Recreation, and Kneece’s Car Care.

Cost for entrance into the parade is:

$15 per Walking Group (includes Civic/Church Groups – School bands are excused of entry fee);

$20 per Car/Truck/Float – includes go-karts/ATV/Tractor/Golf Cart;

$30 per Tractor Trailer Truck/18-Wheeler

$40 per Car/Truck/Motorcycle Club – first 5 vehicles

Each additional vehicle will be $5 each.

Participants should be in their designated line-up spot by 1 p.m. Line-up details will be available from noon to 1 p.m. Dec. 4 in The Newberry Observer parking lot and on the day of the event beginning at noon.

The parade route is the same as years past: Main Street at Calhoun Street to Nance Street. Participants will line-up on Calhoun Street, Johnstone Street, Amelia Street and Cheatham Street.

The proceeds from this year’s parade will benefit the Newberry Jaycees’ efforts to service the community and local charities.
