POMARIA — A traffic collision that took place at 4:25 p.m. yesterday evening has lead to one fatality.

John Ma, 59, of Glendale, N.Y. was killed instantly when the car he was driving crossed the center portion of the roadway striking an on-coming car. The accident occurred near the intersection of SC 213 and Broad River Road in Pomaria.

Chief Deputy Coroner Lewis Lee said that Ma was wearing a seat belt and was along in the car. Ma was in the area as a contract employee of the nearby nuclear station.

The driver of the other car was transported to an area hospital for non life threatening injuries.

The accident remains under investigation by the Coroner’s Office at the SC Highway Patrol.
