NEWBERRY — The members of American Legion Posts 219 and 24 will host the 16th annual Newberry County Veteran’s Day Parade on Saturday.

The Parade kicks off at 10 a.m. and is routed through downtown Newberry along Main Street.

“The Veterans Day Parade keeps getting better, and we’ll have a very good parade this year,” said Eugene Wilson, commander of American Legion Post 219. “This is a great opportunity to honor our veterans.”

Entry is free and those in attendance are encouraged to be patriotic, said Newberry Mayor Foster Senn.

“Grand marshals will be veterans from many decades and the Chapin-Newberry American Legion baseball 2015 national champions,” Senn said. “Participants in the parade will include the South Carolina National Guard 751 from Newberry, the marching bands from Newberry College and Newberry High, the Newberry College Scarlet Poms dance team, the Jr. ROTC and many others.”

Henry Brooks, commander of Post 24, said, “We’re pleased to honor all that served our country as active duty, Reserves and National Guard. We thank the community for participating in this salute.”
