SPARTANBURG – Whitmire resident Hermani Mesilien is graduating from the S.C. School for the Deaf and the Blind this month.

After graduation, Hermani plans to live at home and attend a technical school program for welding and cooking. While attending the S.C. School for the Deaf and the Blind, Mesilien received training in wood shop/carpentry, welding, small engine repair, and child development. He also received on-the-job training with a local manufacturer.

Mesilien was an outstanding athletic winning multiple sports awards including a Football Award, Most Basketball Rebounds Award, a Wrestling Award, and a Good Sportsmanship Award. He received awards for perfect attendance and good citizenship while earning a place on the A/B honor roll.

“I like the family atmosphere at the SC School for the Deaf and the Blind,” said Mesilien. “Staff and teachers help us, making sure we do things right. If we need help, we can always ask them.”

Hermani is the son of Meshelle Mack and Benson Mesilien.
