COLUMBIA — A Newberry woman isn’t spending her $125,000 lottery prize until she prays about it first.

“This is life changing,” she said. “I never thought me, of all people, would win. I’m blessed.”

The winner, whose name was not released, told lottery officials that out of the blue she bought a $5 Grand Luck ticket at Ruby’s Food Store on South Broad Street in Clinton. After putting her groceries away, she sat down and scratched off the big win.

Now that the prize is paid, Ruby’s Food Store in Clinton receives a $1,250 commission. One top prize of $125,000 remains in the $5 Grand Luck game, at odds of 1 in 480,000.
