PROSPERITY — Amelia Claire Alonso was recently awarded the title South Carolina’s Junior Miss United States Agriculture.

Alonso, the daughter of Eric and Lori Alonso of Prosperity, will make appearances and be involved in her community on behalf of the Miss United States Agriculture Organization throughout the year.

Miss United States Agriculture Queens are involved at the local and state level with a wide variety of charitable organizations and promoting the agriculture industry in their state.

Alonso will represent South Carolina at the 2017 National Pageant in Alabama in June. The Miss United States Agriculture pageant began in Alabama several years ago in efforts to help promote peanut and other crop industries. Many of the Miss United States Agriculture Queens are future leaders of women in agriculture, are daughters of local farmers, members of FFA, 4 H and other organizations that promote agriculture.
