NEWBERRY COUNTY — The Newberry County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its search for a Donnie Richardson, a Silverstreet man who suffers from dementia.

Sheriff Lee Foster said investigators worked throughout the weekend in their search for Richardson and were back in the area using a helicopter from the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division to continue the search.

Richardson was last seen walking down Lake Street toward Main Street in the Silverstreet community after 10 p.m. Saturday when he left his home after his family went to sleep.

He was last seen wearing a beige shirt with dark pants. He is a black male who is 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighs 160 pounds and is missing his left eye.

The Newberry County Sheriff’s Office used bloodhounds to track Richardson for some distance but could not locate him. Authorities believe he may have gotten a ride from the area.

Richardson often reverts to his former residence in Lexington in his mind and believes he needs to go to the Piggly Wiggly. Law enforcement has contacted area stores in that chain to advise them to look out for Richardson.

Anyone who sees Richardson is asked to call 911 or call the Newberry County Sheriff’s Office at 803-321-2222.
