PROSPERITY — The Rebel Regiment finished the season after placing seventh of 19 bands at Upper State and 11th at the State Championships, which pits the top seven from the Upper State and the top seven from the Lower State against one another.

The band competes at the 2A level. Out of 48 registered 2A bands, they placed 11th in the state.

The way the scores break down, bands are judged in six categories: Music Ensemble, Music Individual, Visual Ensemble, Visual Individual, General Effect Music, and General Effect Visual.

In the Music Ensemble category, they placed seventh overall. When combining all categories, they were 11th.

Four Mid-Carolina High School band students have been accepted into the 2016 Winthrop Invitational Band Clinic and will audition for chair placement when they arrive.

Directors submit recommendations of students to attend the clinic and then Winthrop hand picks ones to attend. Of the 520 students nominated from 62 different schools from South Carolina, North Carolina and Georgia, only 200 were selected to attend.

The MCHS students are seniors Kaleb Worley on bass clarinet and Kiersten Murphy on trumpet, junior Rachel Shealy on the French horn and sophomore Morgan Hair on the French Horn.
