Donation drive for hurricane relief

NEWBERRY COUNTY — The Newberry YMCA Swim Team is collecting donations for communities affected by Hurricane Matthew

Donations can be dropped off at the Newberry YMCA, 8220 Jollystreet Road, or given to any member of the swim team. Donations will be accepted until Oct. 28.

Items being accepted include non-perishable food items like fruit cups, Beanie-Weenies, crackers, individual snacks, juice boxes, Ensure, tuna, applesauce, granola bars and other individual snack items.

Swim team members also will accept Kleenex, water, can openers, large plastic storage bins, five-gallon buckets, liquid laundry detergent, new and gently used clothing, baby wipes, diapers, formula, onesies, cribs and playpens, toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap, washcloths, towels, shampoo, feminine products, scrub brushes, sponges, trash bags, bleach, masks, gloves and grocery store gift cards.
