PROSPERITY — Get ready for a night of ghosts, goblins and princesses.

Spooktacular is quickly approaching and the Town of Prosperity invites everyone to attend their annual Spooktacular on Oct. 31 from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Square.

This will be the eighth year that the Town of Prosperity has held Spooktacular.

Spooktacular began in 2008 thanks to Officer Deana Wilbanks who wanted children of Prosperity to have a fun and safe way to trick or treat that involved the Prosperity Police Department.

The Town of Prosperity partners with Grace Lutheran Church, the Prosperity Business Association and the Prosperity Police Department to put together the event. Police officers will help children cross the street.

As in the past, coupons for free photos with Santa will be handed out to children at Spooktacular. Last year, around 70 coupons were returned out of the 400 given out.

“In the past, we’ve done cupcake stations where kids could decorate their cupcakes any way they wanted to. We have had bouncy houses, a train, live bands and DJs, games. It’s just a fun-filled evening,” said Town Administrator Karen Livingston.

This year, activities include a slide and a bouncy house. Ten trunks will be set up, the Drug Bug will be in the Square and a DJ will be set up in the gazebo.

Oh, and there will be candy — 400 bags of candy and prizes.
