WHITMIRE — If you’re traveling through Whitmire and want to stop for a bite to eat, look no further than The Rusty Spoon. a family-owned business where everything is made fresh, from the burgers to hand-cut French fries

“We get a lot of people that travel from Columbia, Prosperity and Irmo, which is a really great thing for people to drive that far to come to Whitmire and eat here,” said James Quinn, owner of The Rusty Spoon.

The Rusty Spoon can cater events such as weddings and church events.

“I don’t want to discourage anyone from going to any other restaurants, but everything we do here is fresh, so if you’re looking for something made fresh that hasn’t been frozen, that’s why we encourage people to come to our restaurant,” he said.

Quinn said The Rusty Spoon was a much needed business in Whitmire.

“Whitmire needed a place,” he said. “This is actually the first place where you can sit down, look at a menu and order, and not just order at a counter and then pay kind of place.”

But Quinn said that without the support of its customers, co-owner Johnathan Ammons and team members Sam Farmer and Britni Wallace, the restaurant wouldn’t be where it is today.

“We really appreciate everybody who comes and dines with us,” he said. “It really means a lot when you can get that publicity. That’s one thing that makes this possible, when people drive so far and they say our food is amazing. That’s what really counts.”

Breakfast is served until 10:30 a.m. At this time, diners can feast on chicken and eggs, a bowl of grits, fully loaded hashbrowns and eggs, along with other breakfast options. November will mark The Rusty Spoon’s one year anniversary.
