DSN board recognizes advocate, employee of year

NEWBERRY — The Newberry County Disabilities and Special Needs Board and The Ruth S. Pugh Foundation announced the 2016 Employee of the Year and Self-Advocate of the Year Award Recipients during the quarterly foundation meeting on Sept. 22.

John Pat Williams has been associated with the Newberry DSN Board and Newberry Industries for 29 years. He also serves on Voices for PRIDE Self Advocacy Committee and is active in Special Olympics.

Betty Sims serves as the Skills Coach for Newberry County DSN Board and has been employed for 15 years. Each recipient received a plaque and a cash award from the foundation.
