PROSPERITY — The second Mid-Carolina High School volleyball camp was held July 6 through July 8 at Mid-Carolina High School. Head varsity volleyball coach Jessica Seibert said they had more than 25 campers ranging from rising fourth through tenth graders.
Seibert, JV coach Melissa Reynolds and returning JV and varsity players and alumni were camp coaches. The camp was done in association with Newberry County Recreation.
During camp, participants were taught volleyball fundamentals and skills of blocking, hitting, passing, serving and setting. Campers were also taught agility drills, ladder drills and box drills. In addition, campers also learned volleyball rules and terminology.
Tryouts for the Mid-Carolina junior varsity and varsity volleyball tryouts are Aug. 3 Aug. 4 from 10 a.m. to noon at MCHS. Players must have a completed physical for this school year, Seibert said along with a concussion form and a permission to participate form signed by a parent or legal guardian prior to tryouts.
