NEWBERRY — The Newberry College men’s soccer team will be having Kids Day during their home opener on Saturday.

Kick off for the game will be at 4 p.m. against Erskine. Children will be able to watch the game and then interact with the players afterwards.

Pelican’s SnoBalls will be out during the game selling snowballs. They will arrive at the Smith Road Complex at 3 p.m. and stay until the end of the game.

“We do a lot of stuff with the County Recreation Department, and schools we work with like Newberry Elementary School last semester. We wanted to get some kids out to the field, kids we have already built relationships with through camp and things like that,” said Assistant Coach Matthew Drapeau. “Any way you can get kids involved in a collegiate atmosphere is always a good time.”

Admission to the game will be free for everyone. The Newberry College football team will also have their first game that day.

“It is a great kind of kick off before, something to do pre-game before kick off starts,” Drapeau said.
