PROSPERITY — Ladison Hamm, owner of Prosperity-based Hamm Hardware & Building Supplies, recently earned recognition for his long and successful career in the retail hardware industry.

Estwing, a leading national manufacturer of striking tools, presented Hamm with its Gold Hammer award, honoring him for more than 50 years of service to the home improvement industry.

The award celebrates those rare individuals who have provided exceptional service for a half-century or more.

“This is an amazing honor,” said Hamm. “I consider myself very fortunate to reach this milestone – and it’s only been possible because I love what I do and able to serve this great community.”

Ladison Hamm is the third-generation owner of the family business, which is celebrating its 90th anniversary in 2016.

Hamm’s Gold Hammer award from Estwing is the second national recognition for the family business in 2016.

In June, Hamm Hardware & Building Supplies was named by Hardware + Building Supply Dealer, a national industry publication, as its 2016 All Star for South Carolina.

Hamm Hardware was the only hardware store in the state, and one of only 50 nationwide, to be selected for All Star status.

In recognizing Hamm Hardware, H+BSD highlighted its four generations of family involvement, its community emergency response team connection and its selection of fire and rescue supplies.

“Any year in which you are recognized twice like this is special, but to do it in the same year as our 90th anniversary is incredibly humbling,” Hamm added. “We are extremely proud that we’ve been able to serve this community over multiple generations, and we’re thankful for its continued support.”

Hamm Hardware is backed by the strength of its status as a member-owner of Do it Best Corp., a US-based hardware, lumber and building materials co-op with thousands of independently owned locations across the United States and in 52 other countries.
