Four women were charged by the Department of Health and Environmental Control last week for using a local dentist’s name to obtain drugs.

Joyce Fulmer Wicker, 53, of 133 Sand Trap Road, Newberry, and Tammy Folk, 46, of 56 Stoney Point Drive, Chapin, were both arrested and charged with two counts of use of a controlled substance registration issued to another and two counts of obtaining a controlled substance by fraud.

Nancy Blackburn, 52, of 316 Tanners Mill Court, Chapin, and Virginia Armstrong, 33, of 293 Crape Myrtle Road, Laurens, were both arrested and charged with two counts of obtaining a controlled substance by fraud.

According to arrest warrants signed by DHEC agents, Wicker used a medical registration issued to another person to distribute Propoxyphene, a pain medication, on June 10 and Hydrocodone, also pain medication, on Oct. 23.

Wicker is accused of also obtained Hydrocodone from a local drug store by calling in a prescription under the name of Dr. William Rush, a local dentist, without his authorization. Two separate prescriptions were called in on Feb. 26 and Oct. 13.

Blackburn is accused of falsely phoning in prescriptions for Alprazolam, a Xanax-type drug, on Nov. 11 and a prescription for Propoxyphene on Sept. 3, in Rush’s name.

Armstrong is accused of falsely calling in prescriptions for Hydrocodone on May 4 and for Zolpidem, a medication to treat insomnia, on June 25 in the same manner.

Folk is accused of using Rush’s registration number to distribute Alprazolam on Nov. 10 and obtain Zolpidem on June 25.

Folk also reportedly obtained Hydrocodone on Nov. 23 using Rush’s name and Propozyphene on June 10 in the same way.

I absolutely agree with the other posts. I have known, been friends with and worked with one of these ladies for many years. She is a Godly woman and I trust that God will help her and her family through this. I don't know what truth there is to these allegations but I do know it is not our place to judge and we all need to pray for them and their loved ones.

I am totally floored and so disappointed. Dr Rush is a totally wonderful dentist. These ladies have done my teeth for years and all are really great ladies. I pray for them and especially Dr. Rush.

To all who read this. Do not pass judgement on these ladys until the whole truth comes out. I'm sure there's way more to this story than we know right now.
