POMARIA — Mary Ruth Allen Warren, 89, died Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009 at Newberry County Memorial Hospital.
Born on June 10, 1920, in Pomaria, she was a daughter of the late Ivy Eugene and Ada Richardson Allen. She was a lifelong member of College Street Baptist Church where she taught the Mary Warren Sunday School Class for 50 years. She retired from Newberry Mills and K-Mart. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and she will be greatly missed.
Surviving is her husband, Furman Warren; a daughter, Ann Warren and John W. Smith of Newberry; a son, Richie A. and Toni W. Warren of Newberry; grandchildren, Joey S. Smith, Shannon S. and David Longshore, David and Traci Warren and Clark Warren; great-grandchildren, Katelyn Warren, Kenley and Bryson Longshore and Logan and Brock Glover; sisters, Betty A. and Hanes McEntire of Ballentine and Judy A. and Melvin Meetze of Pomaria; a sister-in-law, Martha B. Allen of Pomaria; close friend, Hattie Mae Mills; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband, G. Roy Warren.
Funeral services were held today, Nov. 6, 2009 at 11 a.m. at College Street Baptist Church by the Rev. Ken Ferrell. Burial followed in Rosemont Cemetery. Memorials may be made to College Street Baptist Church, 3240 College St., Newberry, SC 29108.
Active pallbearers were her grandsons, great-grandsons and Pat Meetze.
Honorary pallbearers were members of the Mary Warren Sunday School Class, Bart McEntire and Scott Meetze.
