NEWBERRY — The Newberry Middle School eighth-grade football team finished the 2012 season with a record of 3-5.

Although the final record was disappointing, both head coach Brian Gordon and assistant coach Andrew Corbett were pleased with the unwavering effort and positive work ethic their players showed throughout the season.

Gordon sounded optimistic about the future.

“The growth these players made and the experiences they shared this season will serve them well next year at the high school,” he said. “The JV team will be better for it.”

The eighth-grade team was led offensively by quarterback Tyran Graham, running back Robert Houston, and tight end Kaleb Rosemond.

Defensively the team was led by several outstanding players. Defensive ends A’Darien Boyd and Trumain Livingston anchored a solid defensive line while linebacker Tyrell Epps and safety Patrick Wright led the defensive secondary with several pass breakups and interceptions.

The Newberry Middle School seventh-grade football team finished the season with a record of 3-2-1.
