NEWBERRY — With cold weather coming, Greek organizations at Newberry College are sponsoring a coat drive. The coat drive began in late October and will run until Thanksgiving break.

“The Greek Council wants to give back to the Newberry community,” says Assistant Dean of Students April Palmer, who serves as an adviser to the coat drive.

The event is one of the Greek Council’s philanthropies, and members of the college’s Greek organizations hope it will lead to more efforts on behalf of the community.

“I hope that this goes well so that we can continue more events locally,” says Matt Padgett of the Kappa Alpha Order.

Donation boxes are located at the Newberry College cafeteria, the Alumni Music Center, the lobby of the Science and Mathematics Building and in Derrick Hall.

Off campus, donation boxes may be found at the Newberry Oprah House, the YMCA, Goody’s, Armfield’s and Newberry County Memorial Hospital. Donations are accepted during regular business hours.
