NEWBERRY — Stokes Trainor in Newberry will soon have a new look, according to owner Joe Trainor. The business, located at 2004 Wilson Road, is currently in the process of completing a new and improved look to its facility.

So what brought about the renovations? Trainor said General Motors Company is in the process of updating its locations as a facility requirement upgrade to maintain the same look across the brand.

“They just want the brand to be consistent,” Trainor said.

The building will take on the silver exterior with the blue archways that can be found in other General Motors Company dealerships.

“We’ll have new furniture, a new interior, the whole nine yards,” Trainor said.

Although General Motors is not paying for the renovations and construction, Trainor said they are offering programs that will help them recoup some of the expenses of the redesign.

Dealerships in Laurens and Rock Hill have just finished their renovations with positive results, Trainor said.

West Development of Newberry is doing the construction, said Trainor, who hopes everything will be complete by the middle of April.

“We’re invested here (in Newberry) and spending our money right here,” Trainor said.

Trainor said his office and the technicians’ offices are still inside the building but all the other offices have been moved outside to trailers, which is helping speed up the renovation process. Business is still being conducted as normal, Trainor said, including service work.

“We’re just doing it from a different place right now,” he said.

He said his staff has had a great attitude throughout the renovation process.

“It hasn’t been easy, but we’ve been working through it,” Trainor said. “It’s a good investment. It’ll look good and we could use the upgrade.”
